According to a complaint filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission in April 2022, Morgan Stanley broker and financial advisor Shawn Edward Good deceived customers. Mr. Good is accused of stealing millions of dollars from investors during a 10-year Ponzi scheme. It is claimed that from December 2012 through February 2022 Good represented to customers that he would use their money to invest in land development projects and tax-free North Carolina municipal bonds. Good marketed the investments as “low-risk” and promised investors profits ranging from 6 percent to 10 percent over a three- or six-month period. It has been reported, however, that Shawn Good used investor monies to pay purported “returns” to previous investors, in typical Ponzi-scheme fashion, and to cover his personal expenses.
